Plovdiv

December 26, 2021

Wandering around Plovdiv’s old town once; I was impressed over how we are walking on top of the ruins of past empires. Thinking about it deeper I felt horrified over how humans are seemingly incapable of learning anything from generation to generation; as we are seemingly headed for another civilizational collapse - propelled and supported by bloodthirsty fools who are falsely claiming its inevitability. I’m asking myself: are we destined to collapse again ? Can’t we rationally see that if we build a society of understanding and support regardless of our differences, won’t we be better off ? All of us ? Regardless of class, politics, race, gender, ideology ?

Your hard past work fills the ground on top of which we walk,

we learn in murk, chills, we’re bound to race against the clock.

Was it you who failed to teach us ?

or was it us who failed to learn ?

I implore you: live for others, knowing: this too will mill your selfish boon;

but based so far on how we’re growing, we too will fill the ground real soon.
